Welcome to Kapurn: Skin

ARRIVING

Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. If you are a new client you need to check in and fill out the compulsory New Client Consultation Form. Arriving late will deprive you of precious appointment minutes as each session will be finished on time as a courtesy to the next client.

We appreciate that sometimes being late is outside of your control. If you are running late, please contact Reception as soon as possible by phone to allow your therapist to advise the best course of action.

If you have a gift certificate and do not show up for your treatment or cancel less than 24 hours before your treatment time, you will forfeit your voucher.

We recommend that you plan ahead for your visit and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have about our location and parking.

GIFT CERTIFICATES

Gift Certificates can be purchased for any amount and are valid from three years from purchase date. Once past this date vouchers will no longer be accepted at Kapurn: Skin.

Vouchers are non-transferable, exchangeable or refundable.

We accept no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen gift certificate.

When booking a treatment with a gift certificate, please state the certificate number and bring it with you to produce prior to the treatment. Failure to do so will result in full payment of the treatment.

PAYMENT

We accept cash and all major credit cards, we do not accept cheques.

RISK

Remember that all procedures carry risks; nothing is completely risk-free. We want to help you understand the risks so you are aware of them before having a procedure. This includes knowing that a registered health practitioner will provide you with appropriate after care.

There are many possible side effects and complications associated with cosmetic procedures that involve an injectable substance. Here are a couple of situations to consider:

IV Nutrient Therapy

IV infusions work by administering essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants directly into a vein. A thin cannula is inserted which remains comfortably in your arm to allow the infusion to proceed. You may experience a warm sensation in your chest or abdomen and you may have a sensation of “tasting” the vitamins.

All risks will be outlined by your health practitioner prior to administration.

Skin Boosters

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience some mild swelling, lasting for 24-48 hours. It is also possible to experience slight bruising at the site of injections but should resolve within 7-10 days.

Small ‘bumps’ on your skin following your treatment is normal, as the product settles over the next few days, your skin will continue to improve and these will disappear.

Full aftercare instructions will be provided at your appointment.

LED Therapy

LED light therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment. The LED lights used in the treatment do not produce harmful UV rays.

Contraindications

Eye Disease

Eye disease such as Glaucoma, Cataracts and aged related Macular Degeneration or laser eye surgery must seek medical approval prior to treatment.

Epilepsy

We are unable to treat clients who have epilepsy. If you have not had a seizure in 5 years, we require a medical certificate from your doctor prior tot treatment.

Medication

If you currently taking an light sensitive medication such as Tetracycline antibiotics, or isotretinoin etc, we require your doctor’s written approval.

Cancer

Patients in full remission can be treated with LED therapy. LED Therapy cannot be used over any known malignant lesions unless for pain relief during the terminal stages of the illness.

Pregnancy

LED Therapy may only be used on the pregnant woman for facial treatment only. It is client-specific after a full consultation with our Doctors or Nurses. We reserve the right not to treat pregnant women.

Dark Skin Fitz 6 or Cosmetic Tattoo

On rare occasions LED light therapy may cause low level discomfort or unpleasant amount of heat due to the level of pigment in their skin.

St Johns Wart

Please advise your health practitioner if you are taking St Johns Wart as this may increase the risk of photoxic reaction and is not advisable.

Wrinkle Reduction

Minor side effects post treatment include temporary localised inflammation, including redness, swelling, heat and small lumps at the treatment site. These symptoms are very normal and will usually subside within a couple of days. There is also the potential for minor bruising at the treatment site, which is usually easily concealed with makeup.

Some very rare complications include allergic reactions, granulomas, delayed onset reactions, damage to vascular structures, ischaemia and blindness (very rare).

Please be assured that your safety is our priority and all measures will be taken with procedures to minimise complications.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are currently unwell with any infection, have a history of autoimmune diseases or multiple allergies, unfortunately you cannot be treated.

For more information – Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency – Fact sheet on injectables (ahpra.gov.au)

Dermafacials –  They may carry the following risks:

  • Infection.
  • Scarring such as keloid or hypertrophic (raised) scars.
  • Skin discoloration (skin that turns lighter or darker than the surrounding skin).

Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating, secondary to overactive sweat glands. It primarily occurs in the underarms, palms of the hands and soles of the feet, but can also affect the whole body. Muscle Relaxant injections are used to give symptomatic relief of hyperhidrosis.

Side effects are minimal and may include mild pain or stinging during and after the procedure. Some people may feel a subjective increase in sweating from other areas in the first few days following treatment.

Treatment with muscle relaxant injections for hyperhidrosis is not a suitable treatment for those with particular allergies, neuromuscular disorders and pregnant/breastfeeding women.

During your comprehensive consultation please inform your heatlh practitioner of any and all health conditions prior to treatment.

Chemical Skin Peels – Scarring can occur with strong acids or a phenol peel. The most common causes of scarring are from infection and pulling the flaking pieces of skin off before they’re ready. This is why we advise taking extreme care to avoid manipulating the skin while it is flaking, and following all post care advice.

Cold sores can be activated in those prone to this problem. Anti-viral medication can be taken prior to the procedure in this case.

Increased pigmentation can occur. We advise using sunscreen and minimising your sun exposure for 3 months after the peel.

Depending on the depth of your peel, you may experience mild to no redness, or you may require 5 to 10 days for your skin to fully heal and stop flaking.

Holistic Facial Cosmetic Consultations

With a wide variety of skin conditions that concern us all from sun damage, acne and acne scarring, effects of ageing and the appearance of facial lines, our experienced heatlh practitioners can provide a holistic skin care assessment.

These consultations are essential to develop a treatment plan to suit your needs and goals and not only covers skin health but also diet, hydration and supplementation.
